Meet Kapil Joshi (Lead, Customer Operations) who started his career as a finance freak but his cycling expeditions steered him towards Classplus. Let’s dive into his story…

‘The world is your oyster’, they said. Until I graduated, I had no idea how accurate that was. College placements are an exciting yet nerve-wracking phase of a student’s life as they give you the freedom to thrive, travel, live, and have fun.

It all began in 2013 when I joined an audit firm. Days were buried in excel, eyes popping out to check the number of “ifs’’ in the excel formulas. The learning was tremendous as I aced Excel (read: excel’ing), and the knack of presenting data into meaningful observations. But, my days were typically mundane, which left me bewildered about life’s purpose.

In the quest for answers, I started going on cycling expeditions. Because challenges test your resilience, willpower, and the ability to overcome any barriers that stand in your way, however, you can’t shut yourself off from what you enjoy. Every time I returned from these expeditions, I would have absolute clarity about my purpose and it would help me take difficult steps — even if it called for switching my roles.

And, again one day, I was randomly scrolling Danny MacAskill’s videos; the momentum drove me to another cranky thought of downhill, a tough terrain. But this was becoming a habit, it had to change. At first, cycling from Leh to Manali seemed insane. But I knew this would result in a significant change in my persona when I return.

After the great transition and the big expedition, I joined Classplus to take on a new challenge and work with a purpose. The genuine passion of everyone I met at Classplus amazed me. During my interview with the founder, I remember him giving undivided attention until he got a call from an educator. The idea of putting customers first enthralled me. And how the core of all our initiatives would embed empathy and relationship building with the educators.

It’s been almost a year, yet the fun never stops. Although I still go on cycling trips, but they are no longer about reminiscing but instead taking a more forward-looking approach. Cheers!
