We all remember our history classes but do we remember the lessons we learnt from them?
Well no worries! We’re here to refresh your memory. Let’s start with the First World War.
Believe it or not, the incident that triggered this conflict was a result of ‘Lack of Communication’. Crazy right? Let’s get into the story 😲.
Archduke Franz Ferdinand of the Austria-Hungarian Empire was on a peaceful mission to Bosnia, a country that was against its acquisition by said empire. It was on this tour that Serbian terrorist group The Black Hand carried out an assasination attempt (a botched one!) of the Archduke during his motorcade. The bomb hit the wrong car, leading to him escaping unscathed. Once at the safe house, the guilt-filled Archduke insisted on visiting his injured comrades against all advice.
Preparations were thus made for him to go through an alternate route than the one used for his motorcade. The catch? Out of all the people, it was the driver who wasn’t communicated the plan. This led to him taking a wrong turn, which just happened to be right near the café where one of the assassins, Gavrilo Princip was sitting. With the target being just a few inches away, Princip took the shot that triggered one of the bloodiest events in history.
This should be enough for us to realize the impact that lack of effective communication can have 😬. Communication is critical in all walks of our lives, be it business or personal. This is the driving force behind Classplus having ‘Be Frank’ as its most practiced greatness principle. We at Classplus try our best to communicate by writing so that the message is not lost in translation and is free of biases.
Let this be a reminder to all of us that the greatest weapon in our arsenal is communication. Now it is up to us whether we use it constructively or destructively.
